My new book celebrates quilts of all styles as their makers responded to significant events and anniversaries in our country’s history, beginning with the 1876 Centennial held in Philadelphia. Commemorative American Quilts was researched and written with an eye to diverse women’s participation, including descriptions of quilts and other textiles viewed by attendees at the various events. As the US reaches its 250th year, I am hoping that my book might inspire makers to find something to celebrate in a new quilt.
